Ultimate OBS Controller - Privacy Policy
In short. OBS controller: scenes, studio mode, sources, mic mute, go live from your phone. There is no account and no sign-up. Nothing leaves your phone except what this page names.
1. What the app does
Ultimate OBS Controller is an Android app by JabbieWorld (https://jabbie.world). OBS controller: scenes, studio mode, sources, mic mute, go live from your phone.
2. Who is responsible
JabbieWorld, a trade name of Alexander Wannyn (https://jabbie.world), is responsible for this app. Contact: https://jabbie.world. Email: info@jabbie.world.
3. What the app does with your data
- Your OBS (address, port, password). You type them, or scan the code that OBS shows. They are stored on your phone only, in the app's private storage (app backups are off), and sent only to the computer you named, over your own network, to control OBS. I never receive them. The connection to OBS is OBS's own WebSocket on your local network (ws://); OBS offers no encrypted version of it, so use a network you trust and keep the password OBS asks for. Everything the app shows from OBS (scene, source, mic and hotkey names, volume levels, stream and record status, the small pictures of your scenes) travels only between OBS and your phone. The pictures are shown on screen and never saved or sent anywhere else.
- Finding OBS. While the connect screen is open, the phone looks for OBS by trying the addresses of its own Wi-Fi, hotspot or cable network on OBS's port. This stays on your local network: it sends no personal data and no password, and it never reaches the internet. Mobile data and VPN networks are not scanned. It stops when you leave the screen.
- Camera. Android asks for camera permission (CAMERA) only when you tap Scan. The camera reads the one code OBS shows (under Show Connect Info) and nothing else. The picture is processed in memory on your phone and is not saved or sent. The app works without the camera: you can type the address instead.
- Guests. When you invite a friend, the phone makes a join link and a view link with a random stream id and password and keeps them in the app's private storage. The join link goes only where you send it. The view link goes to your own OBS over the local connection, as a Browser source. Your friend's camera video and sound travel from their browser to your OBS through VDO.Ninja, peer to peer or relayed by VDO.Ninja's servers; the app itself never receives the video and I receive nothing. The password sits after the # of each link, which browsers do not send to the web server.
- Twitch chat mirror (with the pass). When you type a channel name and tap Show chat, the app opens a read-only, anonymous, encrypted (TLS) connection to Twitch's chat servers (irc-ws.chat.twitch.tv) to show that channel's public chat on your phone. Twitch therefore sees your phone's IP address and the channel you joined, as with any chat viewer. The app signs in with no Twitch account, name or password and cannot post, reply or send anything. I do not receive the channel name or the chat lines. Twitch (Twitch Interactive, Inc.) handles what it receives under its own privacy notice: twitch.tv/p/legal/privacy-notice. The chat lines are shown on screen only and are not stored; they are written by other people and are not filtered. The last channel you typed is saved on your phone so you do not have to type it again.
- Saved on your phone only: your OBS connection, your custom buttons, your guests' links, the last Twitch channel, whether the scene pictures are on, when your pass ends, your language, and the year of birth from the first-launch age check (change it in Settings). I cannot see any of it. Clearing the app's data (Android Settings > Apps > Ultimate OBS Controller > Storage > Clear data) removes all of it.
- Legal basis: everything the app does for you happens on your phone or between your phone and your own OBS. No personal data about it reaches me. The Twitch chat mirror and the guest links are services you ask for; Twitch and VDO.Ninja receive the connection as a service you chose and are responsible for their own processing. Requests about what they received go to them, through their privacy notices.
4. Rewarded ads
Ultimate OBS Controller shows one kind of ad: an optional rewarded ad that you choose to watch to open the pass (the Twitch chat mirror, up to 24 custom buttons, scene pictures and mic faders) for 3 hours. No ad ever starts by itself. Scenes, studio mode and transitions, source switches, mic mutes, the stream, record and replay buttons and six custom buttons are free and never depend on an ad. The ad SDK still starts when the app opens so that a rewarded ad is ready. The time your pass ends is stored on your phone, so it is lost if you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
5. Data collected and why
Google Play lists these data types for Ultimate OBS Controller:
| Data | Why | Shared with a third party | Optional |
|---|---|---|---|
| Approximate location | Advertising or marketing; Analytics; Fraud prevention, security, and compliance | Yes | No |
| App interactions | Advertising or marketing; Analytics; Fraud prevention, security, and compliance | Yes | No |
| Diagnostics | Advertising or marketing; Analytics; Fraud prevention, security, and compliance | Yes | No |
| Device or other IDs | Advertising or marketing; Analytics; Fraud prevention, security, and compliance | Yes | No |
"Shared" means the data goes to a third party that decides for itself how to process it (for ads, that is Google AdMob).
Nothing else is collected. Your files and settings stay on your device. I do not sell personal data.
6. Ads and how to opt out
Ultimate OBS Controller shows ads served by Google AdMob (Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited). AdMob may use your device's advertising ID and other device data to show ads, limit how often you see them and detect fraud. Google decides for itself how it processes this data, as an independent controller. How Google handles it: policies.google.com/technologies/ads and policies.google.com/privacy. How Google uses information from apps that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland): where the law requires it, a consent message lets you accept or refuse personalised ads and the use of device identifiers. Personalised ads rest on that consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can change your choice later under Privacy options in the app's settings, where available.
- Opt out of personalisation: open Android Settings > Google > Ads (the path varies by device) and turn off ad personalisation, or visit adssettings.google.com.
- Reset or delete the advertising ID: in the same Ads settings choose Reset advertising ID or Delete advertising ID. Resetting gives you a new ID; deleting it stops ads being personalised with it.
Anyone the age check (see Children) treats as possibly under 18 gets only non-personalised ads rated for general audiences (G), through Google's child-directed and under-age-of-consent treatment. The ad formats are: optional rewarded ads. A rewarded ad is optional: you choose to watch it and get a reward in return (hours of Pro: 3).
7. Purchases
Ultimate OBS Controller sells nothing and has no paid features.
8. Network use
Ultimate OBS Controller also contacts internet services that its job needs; the sections above name them and what is sent. I run no servers for this app. Ads and purchases add the traffic that Ads and Purchases describe.
9. Legal bases (GDPR)
- What the app does on your device: it happens locally, at your request. No personal data about it reaches me.
- What the app sends over the internet for its job: the section that describes it names the legal basis.
- The age check: it runs only on your device and serves my legal obligation to protect minors (Article 6(1)(c)).
- Messages you send me: my legitimate interest in answering you (Article 6(1)(f)).
- Ads and purchases: where the app has them, Ads and Purchases give the legal basis.
10. Retention
I run no servers for this app and hold no data about you, so I have nothing to retain. Settings and progress stay on your device until you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. Data that Google receives for ads or purchases is kept under Google's own policies. Messages you send me are kept only as long as needed to answer you.
11. International transfers
Data that Google receives for ads or purchases (Ads, Purchases) may be processed in countries outside the European Economic Area, including the United States, under safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. See policies.google.com/privacy for details. Any other internet service this page names may also process your request outside your country, under its own policy.
12. Your rights and deleting your data
Under the GDPR and similar laws you can ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of or a copy of your personal data, object to processing, withdraw consent at any time, and complain to your local data protection authority.
- Data held by me: none, apart from messages you send me. To have a conversation deleted, contact me at https://jabbie.world. Email: info@jabbie.world.
- Data on your device: uninstall the app, or open Android Settings > Apps > Ultimate OBS Controller > Storage > Clear data.
- Data held by Google: manage or delete your Google activity at myactivity.google.com; where the app shows ads, Ads says how to reset or delete the advertising ID. Requests about data Google holds go to Google.
I answer requests within 30 days.
13. Children
Ultimate OBS Controller is for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. The app asks for your month and year of birth (never the day) when you first open it. Only those two are stored, on your device, and it is never sent to me or to Google; the app treats anyone it may consider under 18 as a minor, and Ads says what that means for ads. I do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent me data, contact me as Who is responsible describes and I will delete it.
14. Security
The app requests only the permissions it needs, and what it keeps for you stays on your device. Google's ad and billing libraries, where Ads and Purchases name them, connect over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
15. Changes
If this policy changes, I update this page and its date. Material changes are also reflected in the Google Play Data safety section.
