Sudoku Duel - Privacy Policy
In short. Classic sudoku, 4 difficulty levels, daily puzzles, and duels with friends. There is no account and no sign-up. Nothing leaves your phone except what this page names.
1. What the app does
Sudoku Duel is an Android app by JabbieWorld (https://jabbie.world). Classic sudoku, 4 difficulty levels, daily puzzles, and duels with friends.
2. Who is responsible
JabbieWorld, a trade name of Alexander Wannyn (https://jabbie.world), is responsible for this app. Contact: https://jabbie.world. Email: info@jabbie.world.
3. Data that stays on your device
- Game data: your saved games, notes, daily puzzle progress, streaks, difficulty choice, hint use, settings, a launch counter and whether ads are removed. It is stored on your phone only. I cannot see it, and it is not sent anywhere.
- Age check: on first launch the app asks for your year of birth, because the rules for online ads depend on age. Only the year is stored, on your phone. It is not sent to me, to Google or to anyone else, and the app does not create an account from it. You can change the year in Settings > Change year of birth.
- Daily reminder (optional, off by default): when you switch it on, the app asks for permission to show notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) and uses RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED to schedule the reminder again after the phone restarts. The reminder is a local notification made on your device; no push service is involved.
- The one-time "Remove ads" purchase also gives unlimited hints.
- Clearing the app's data (Android Settings > Apps > Sudoku Duel > Storage > Clear data) removes your saved games, streaks, settings and the stored age check, and shows the consent message again.
4. Duel links
- When you start a duel, the app creates a link on jabbie.world that contains the game, the difficulty, a puzzle code (seed) and optionally your solve time (in a reply link also your friend's time), plus a check code against tampering. It contains no name, email or device identifier.
- You choose how to send it using Android's share sheet, for example in a messaging app, and that app's own privacy policy applies to the message. When your friend opens the link, it opens in the app. If the app is not installed or the link is opened in a browser, the browser loads a page from jabbie.world, whose host sees the IP address and time of that request, as Network use describes.
- I run no server that stores duels, results or friend lists. The app makes no other network requests of its own besides ads and purchases.
- Legal basis: handling duel links is needed to provide the game feature you use (Article 6(1)(b)).
5. Data collected and why
Google Play lists these data types for Sudoku Duel:
| Data | Why | Shared with a third party | Optional |
|---|---|---|---|
| Approximate location | Advertising or marketing; Analytics; Fraud prevention, security, and compliance | Yes | No |
| Purchase history | App functionality | No | No |
| App interactions | Advertising or marketing; Analytics; Fraud prevention, security, and compliance | Yes | No |
| Diagnostics | Advertising or marketing; Analytics; Fraud prevention, security, and compliance | Yes | No |
| Device or other IDs | Advertising or marketing; Analytics; Fraud prevention, security, and compliance | Yes | No |
"Shared" means the data goes to a third party that decides for itself how to process it (for ads, that is Google AdMob).
Nothing else is collected. Your files and settings stay on your device. I do not sell personal data.
6. Ads and how to opt out
Sudoku Duel shows ads served by Google AdMob (Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited). AdMob may use your device's advertising ID and other device data to show ads, limit how often you see them and detect fraud. Google decides for itself how it processes this data, as an independent controller. How Google handles it: policies.google.com/technologies/ads and policies.google.com/privacy. How Google uses information from apps that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland): where the law requires it, a consent message lets you accept or refuse personalised ads and the use of device identifiers. Personalised ads rest on that consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can change your choice later under Privacy options in the app's settings, where available.
- Opt out of personalisation: open Android Settings > Google > Ads (the path varies by device) and turn off ad personalisation, or visit adssettings.google.com.
- Reset or delete the advertising ID: in the same Ads settings choose Reset advertising ID or Delete advertising ID. Resetting gives you a new ID; deleting it stops ads being personalised with it.
Anyone the age check (see Children) treats as possibly under 18 gets only non-personalised ads rated for general audiences (G), through Google's child-directed and under-age-of-consent treatment. The ad formats are: banner ads, full-screen ads, optional rewarded ads. A rewarded ad is optional: you choose to watch it and get a reward in return (hint: 1).
7. Purchases
Sudoku Duel offers a one-time purchase that removes the ads. It is handled by Google Play Billing: Google processes the payment as an independent controller and I never receive your card or payment details. The app asks Google Play on your device whether you own the purchase; after the purchase it no longer requests ads. The legal basis is the performance of a contract with you (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). Your purchases are listed in the Google Play app under Payments and subscriptions > Budget and history. The app may sometimes ask you to rate it with Google Play's in-app review prompt, which Google processes.
8. Network use
Sudoku Duel reaches jabbieworld.com, as the sections above describe. Like any web server, the host of jabbieworld.com can see the IP address and time of each request and may keep standard server logs to run and secure the site. I do not use them to identify you or to build profiles. These logs serve my legitimate interest in running and securing the site (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Ads and purchases add the traffic that Ads and Purchases describe.
9. Legal bases (GDPR)
- What the app does on your device: it happens locally, at your request. No personal data about it reaches me.
- What the app sends over the internet for its job: the section that describes it names the legal basis.
- The age check: it runs only on your device and serves my legal obligation to protect minors (Article 6(1)(c)).
- Messages you send me: my legitimate interest in answering you (Article 6(1)(f)).
- Ads and purchases: where the app has them, Ads and Purchases give the legal basis.
10. Retention
I hold no data about you on servers other than the ordinary web server logs of jabbieworld.com that Network use describes. Settings and progress stay on your device until you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. Data that Google receives for ads or purchases is kept under Google's own policies. Messages you send me are kept only as long as needed to answer you.
11. International transfers
Data that Google receives for ads or purchases (Ads, Purchases) may be processed in countries outside the European Economic Area, including the United States, under safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. See policies.google.com/privacy for details. Any other internet service this page names may also process your request outside your country, under its own policy.
12. Your rights and deleting your data
Under the GDPR and similar laws you can ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of or a copy of your personal data, object to processing, withdraw consent at any time, and complain to your local data protection authority.
- Data held by me: none, apart from messages you send me and the ordinary web server logs of jabbieworld.com. To have a conversation deleted, contact me at https://jabbie.world. Email: info@jabbie.world.
- Data on your device: uninstall the app, or open Android Settings > Apps > Sudoku Duel > Storage > Clear data.
- Data held by Google: manage or delete your Google activity at myactivity.google.com; where the app shows ads, Ads says how to reset or delete the advertising ID. Requests about data Google holds go to Google.
I answer requests within 30 days.
13. Children
Sudoku Duel is for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. The app asks for your month and year of birth (never the day) when you first open it. Only those two are stored, on your device, and it is never sent to me or to Google; the app treats anyone it may consider under 18 as a minor, and Ads says what that means for ads. I do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent me data, contact me as Who is responsible describes and I will delete it.
14. Security
The app requests only the permissions it needs, and what it keeps for you stays on your device. Google's ad and billing libraries, where Ads and Purchases name them, connect over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
15. Changes
If this policy changes, I update this page and its date. Material changes are also reflected in the Google Play Data safety section.
