Voice Prompter - Privacy Policy
In short. Read your script to camera without losing your place. Free, offline, no account. There is no account and no sign-up. Nothing leaves your phone except what this page names.
1. What the app does
Voice Prompter is an Android app by JabbieWorld (https://jabbie.world). Read your script to camera without losing your place. Free, offline, no account.
2. Who is responsible
JabbieWorld, a trade name of Alexander Wannyn (https://jabbie.world), is responsible for this app. Contact: https://jabbie.world. Email: info@jabbie.world.
3. Your camera, microphone and recorded videos
- The app asks for permission to use the camera (CAMERA) and the microphone (RECORD_AUDIO). It asks when you tap Record on a script, after a one-line note saying why. Refusing leaves the prompter working: you can read the script without recording. The microphone is asked once more, at the tap that switches on voice tracking, if you have not allowed it yet.
- While you record, the app shows your front camera and records its picture and your voice into one video. Recording starts only after you tap Start on the record screen, and it runs only until you stop it. The app does not record in the background, and it does not use your rear camera.
- While you record, the video is written to a temporary file in the app's private storage. When you stop, it is added to your phone's gallery in Pictures/Voice Prompter through Android's MediaStore, and the temporary file is removed. The app needs no storage permission for this. If you leave the record screen in the middle of a take, that take is thrown away. If the gallery does not accept a video, the file stays in the app's private storage so you can try saving it again.
- The video is never uploaded, copied to a server, or shared with me or anyone else. The app has no share or upload feature for it. What you do with the file in your gallery is up to you.
- Deleting: clearing the app's data (Android Settings > Apps > Voice Prompter > Storage > Clear data) or uninstalling removes a take that was not saved yet. It does not delete videos already in your gallery: remove those in your gallery (Pictures/Voice Prompter).
- Legal basis: recording yourself happens on your phone and only at your request. No personal data about it reaches me.
4. Voice tracking and the speech files
- Voice tracking is optional and off until you switch it on. While it is on, the app listens through the microphone. Every 2 seconds the last 6 seconds of sound go to a speech model (Whisper tiny) that runs on your phone and is turned into text, which is compared with your script to find your place. The sound is held in memory for a few seconds and dropped. It is never saved and never sent anywhere. The text is compared and dropped too.
- If the phone allows only one reader of the microphone while the camera records, the text keeps its set speed instead and the app says so.
- The speech model and a voice detector (Silero) are about 117 MB. They are downloaded once, only when you tap to download them, from GitHub (github.com, the sherpa-onnx project's release files) over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS), on Wi-Fi only unless you switch that off. After that voice tracking works offline. Like any server, GitHub sees your IP address; the download contains no data about you, and GitHub's own privacy statement applies to it.
- Saved on your device only: your scripts, the reading settings (text size, speed, margins, mirror), the speech language you chose for each script, whether the speech files download uses Wi-Fi only, the end time of the 24-hour pass, and the month and year of birth from the first-launch age check (change it in Settings). I cannot see any of it. Clearing the app's data (Android Settings > Apps > Voice Prompter > Storage > Clear data) removes them and the downloaded speech files.
- Text you share into the app from another app, paste, or open from a .txt file you pick stays on your phone as a script. Nothing is sent anywhere.
5. Rewarded ad and the 24-hour pass
Voice Prompter shows one kind of ad: an optional rewarded ad that you choose to watch to switch on voice tracking for 24 hours. The prompter, your scripts and recording are free without it. There are no banner ads and no pop-up ads, and nothing in the app is bought with money. The ad SDK still preloads an ad while the app is open. The end time of the pass is stored on your device, so it is lost if you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
6. Data collected and why
Google Play lists these data types for Voice Prompter:
| Data | Why | Shared with a third party | Optional |
|---|---|---|---|
| Approximate location | Advertising or marketing; Analytics; Fraud prevention, security, and compliance | Yes | No |
| App interactions | Advertising or marketing; Analytics; Fraud prevention, security, and compliance | Yes | No |
| Diagnostics | Advertising or marketing; Analytics; Fraud prevention, security, and compliance | Yes | No |
| Device or other IDs | Advertising or marketing; Analytics; Fraud prevention, security, and compliance | Yes | No |
"Shared" means the data goes to a third party that decides for itself how to process it (for ads, that is Google AdMob).
Nothing else is collected. Your files and settings stay on your device. I do not sell personal data.
7. Ads and how to opt out
Voice Prompter shows ads served by Google AdMob (Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited). AdMob may use your device's advertising ID and other device data to show ads, limit how often you see them and detect fraud. Google decides for itself how it processes this data, as an independent controller. How Google handles it: policies.google.com/technologies/ads and policies.google.com/privacy. How Google uses information from apps that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland): where the law requires it, a consent message lets you accept or refuse personalised ads and the use of device identifiers. Personalised ads rest on that consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can change your choice later under Privacy options in the app's settings, where available.
- Opt out of personalisation: open Android Settings > Google > Ads (the path varies by device) and turn off ad personalisation, or visit adssettings.google.com.
- Reset or delete the advertising ID: in the same Ads settings choose Reset advertising ID or Delete advertising ID. Resetting gives you a new ID; deleting it stops ads being personalised with it.
Anyone the age check (see Children) treats as possibly under 18 gets only non-personalised ads rated for general audiences (G), through Google's child-directed and under-age-of-consent treatment. The ad formats are: optional rewarded ads. A rewarded ad is optional: you choose to watch it and get a reward in return (day pass: 1).
8. Purchases
Voice Prompter sells nothing and has no paid features.
9. Network use
Voice Prompter also contacts internet services that its job needs; the sections above name them and what is sent. I run no servers for this app. Ads and purchases add the traffic that Ads and Purchases describe.
10. Legal bases (GDPR)
- What the app does on your device: it happens locally, at your request. No personal data about it reaches me.
- What the app sends over the internet for its job: the section that describes it names the legal basis.
- The age check: it runs only on your device and serves my legal obligation to protect minors (Article 6(1)(c)).
- Messages you send me: my legitimate interest in answering you (Article 6(1)(f)).
- Ads and purchases: where the app has them, Ads and Purchases give the legal basis.
11. Retention
I run no servers for this app and hold no data about you, so I have nothing to retain. Settings and progress stay on your device until you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. Data that Google receives for ads or purchases is kept under Google's own policies. Messages you send me are kept only as long as needed to answer you.
12. International transfers
Data that Google receives for ads or purchases (Ads, Purchases) may be processed in countries outside the European Economic Area, including the United States, under safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. See policies.google.com/privacy for details. Any other internet service this page names may also process your request outside your country, under its own policy.
13. Your rights and deleting your data
Under the GDPR and similar laws you can ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of or a copy of your personal data, object to processing, withdraw consent at any time, and complain to your local data protection authority.
- Data held by me: none, apart from messages you send me. To have a conversation deleted, contact me at https://jabbie.world. Email: info@jabbie.world.
- Data on your device: uninstall the app, or open Android Settings > Apps > Voice Prompter > Storage > Clear data.
- Data held by Google: manage or delete your Google activity at myactivity.google.com; where the app shows ads, Ads says how to reset or delete the advertising ID. Requests about data Google holds go to Google.
I answer requests within 30 days.
14. Children
Voice Prompter is for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. The app asks for your month and year of birth (never the day) when you first open it. Only those two are stored, on your device, and it is never sent to me or to Google; the app treats anyone it may consider under 18 as a minor, and Ads says what that means for ads. I do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent me data, contact me as Who is responsible describes and I will delete it.
15. Security
The app requests only the permissions it needs, and what it keeps for you stays on your device. Google's ad and billing libraries, where Ads and Purchases name them, connect over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
16. Changes
If this policy changes, I update this page and its date. Material changes are also reflected in the Google Play Data safety section.
